4 Things Friday: Books, Bottles, Jeggings and Pop Tarts

TGIF! Cheers to a much needed long weekend. This week has been a doozy. We have been having non-stop trouble from our cable provider which leans me more and more to the "cut the cord" revolution. Do we? Don't we? Thoughts?

It's also been a little more warm and summery this week. Right when we were just getting used to the fall-ish weather, too. But I am ok with the warmer temps since we still have a little beach vacation planned in a few weeks. It keeps me in limbo, torn between pumpkins and margaritas. Unfortunately, a pumpkin margarita does not sound like a good idea...

1. I am probably the last in line for this but it's changing my outlook on life. If you haven't read "7" by Jen Hatmaker, run, don't walk to the nearest library or bookstore. It is "an experimental mutiny against excess" and it will make you rethink some areas of your life.




2. I have been wanting a S'well bottle for a while now. I like to take water with me everywhere I go and was wanting something that didn't sweat that I could keep in my purse. LOVE it. It keeps drinks cold for 24 hours! Tons of cute designs, colors and sizes to pick from.

3. Is it just me, or do these pull on jeggings seem like an amazing idea? Can't wait to score a pair for this fall/winter season.

4. I'm looking forward to trying this homemade Pumpkin Pie Poptart recipe this fall. It looks pretty easy and I would be able to heat them up for Mally during the week.

Our Weekend

We started the weekend with my newest breakfast craze - French Toast Rolls.

All you do is:  cut off the crusts
roll out the bread flat with a rolling pin spread out whatever filling you want.
(If you want to use fruit, chop it up and place it down one side so it's not overflowing when you roll it.) Dip the rolls in a mix of 1 beaten egg & 1 Tbsp milk, making sure to evenly coat. Put them in a pan and roll around to brown all the sides.   I have done 2 different versions so far. Nutella/Banana and Strawberry/Cream cheese. Both have been super tasty. I was thinking about experimenting with a savory version with ham and cheddar cheese, or veggie and cream cheese. Possibilities are endless!   The weather this weekend was really nice temperature wise, so we decided to make a trip to the zoo. I was expecting it to be super crowded, but it wasn't at all which was a nice surprise. We were able to be up front on ever exhibit without having to wait.

 

Which also included petting a real kangaroo. Which I didn't do..because I am a germaphobe...

 

Mallory informed us that she would like to be a flamingo. I must agree. They are pretty awesome.  

I was pretty sad to see the weekend come to an end, but then I remembered the big Lilly sale was today! I was able to snag some great finds for me and the little one:

I am loving all the fringe this season. I have these fringe boots and I always get a little sad when the weather turns warm and I can't feasibly wear them anymore. Friday Finds!

Happy Friday! I wish we were heading into a nice warm weekend but it doesn't look like that's the case. The weather has been playing tricks on us in the south here lately. My poor 2 year old doesn't understand how we can be playing outside one day and it be to cold to go out the next! It doesn't make sense baby, I know... I've been doing a little online shopping lately since my girl has a sniffly nose and a cough. I don't want to get her out and about in the wind. Here's a few finds I've came across and wanted to share!

I requested and received a sample of this a few weeks ago and was immediately impressed. I knew once my little baggie sample was empty that I was going to pull the trigger and purchase it. It, in my opinion, smells so good and feels so smooth on your face. It leaves my skin soft and matte yet hydrated. I highly recommend trying this lotion out!

I'm one of those lame girls who can fit into kids clothes. But let me tell you, it saves so much money if you are able to swing it! I am loving all the J.Crew dresses they have lately and some of them are on great sales right now. I love that their shipping is $5. A lot of times I find something on sale that I want on other sites, only to abandon my shopping cart at the site of an enormous shipping charge. $8 to mail me a shirt? I don't think so! I scored this cute number today for $36.50! I plan on wearing it as a tunic with jeans.

Pool side wish list

I've waited my entire adult life to have a baby and for that baby to get big enough to justify me buying a plastic kiddie pool. I would love a real pool, though it seems all our friends that have them say "cough cough, don't do it". I can still dream for one, but in the mean time I am going to be lounging pool side next to my $9 happiness investment.

I will also treat my $9 pool as though I am at a resort on vacation. Laugh away neighbors! Laugh away! Here's what's on my pool day wish list right now:

The weather is getting warmer here in the south and summer is just around the corner! We have been practically living outside on our back porch lately and I am loving it. (Though my allergies are NOT loving it.. hello Claritin D). Warmer weather means new summer gear, right? Here's 5 things that are on my wish list right now to get this summer time party started!

A New MacBook Pro.
My computer is so old and sluggish - it is literally killing me slowly. My current MacBook Pro is 7 years old, which in tech years is like 72. I use my laptop for my freelance business so I am on it daily running huge programs and files. Aside from it not really being able to handle my newer programs, I have really never had any issues out of it. I highly recommend Apple computers. There are a lot more affordable options for one these days. That wasn't really the case when I bought mine. I will easily spend half on a new one what I spent on my current one!

It's the Holiday's - What do I wear?

It's that time of year again! Your wallet gets smaller and your heart gets bigger (along with your stress levels and alcohol consumption.) I cannot believe how busy I have gotten in the short time since Thanksgiving. I am freaking out that there isn't cookie dough already in the freezer and I definitely do NOT have my shopping done. Not to mention the stress of what to wear to all of the gatherings that are quickly sneaking up on me. We can't all hang in footie pjs and get outfit compliments like my little Rudolph up there. I am scouring the web for outfit ideas for the girls night outs and office parties on the horizon. Here's a few items I've been eying this evening:

I can't get enough metallics this season. This sweater is casual with a bit of glitz. It would be great for hanging out with those family members you see JUST at Christmas time! Just throw on some leggings or skinny jeans and flats.

3 Things... Fall is in the air!

Fall is in the air today! It is 'brisk' out, leaves are falling and I'm on my second jug of apple cider - YUM. Here's 3 things I'm digging right now for fall:

1) Military style jackets

Work it out

I went with a friend on Monday to a body flow class. Body flow is a mix of Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates. Whoa... I have done Yoga for a while now, but let me tell you, body flow is another monster! I am STILL sore 3 days later from that class! I can't wait to go back, lol! I really need to amp up my workout wardrobe for the fall though before I head back into the gym. My worn out tanks and compression capris that I bought when I was still pregnant aren't cutting it. Here's what's on my wishlist!

Can I just say how much I LOVE dressing a little one? They look cute in EVERYTHING. It's a good thing there are lots of places now that have inexpensive options for baby attire since I find it pretty dang hard to pass up some of this cuteness!

Needless to say when you are expecting, fashion can be quite the challenge. Along with trying to save money to purchase nursery furniture and baby gear essentials, the old clothes budget isn't what it used to be.
