Shake your booties

It's officially fall and that means pumpkins, hoodies, skinny jeans and booties! I never got around to getting myself a pair last season, but this year it's on! Here are five that I have my eye on. Now to just choose one... or maybe two? TGIF!

Get your craft on - Wreath edition

I haven't crafted anything in quite a while. Evidently being a work from home freelancer and chasing a crazy 1.5 year old takes up a lot of time and energy! I have been wanting a new wreath for the front door, though. Our front door is black and I've had an old Grapevine wreath on there by default that I've had since I got married. It's in pretty rough shape anymore and it's time for a change.

I've been wanting a Boxwood wreath like this:
http://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.target.com%2Fp%2Fsmith-hawken-boxwood-wreath-11%2F-%2FA-14702387%3Fref%3Dtgt_adv_XSG10001%26AFID%3Dgoogle_pla_df%26LNM%3D14702387%26CPNG%3DHome%2BDecor%26kpid%3D14702387%26LID%3D25pgs%26ci_src%3D17588969%26ci_sku%3D14702387%26kpid%3D14702387%26gclid%3DCjwKEAjw14mhBRC0vdSNkI2l7CASJAC8OFS0ZhIwuWkgeynPczZ9ER7_UVkcd-fFROwFduDByToTyBoC7CLw_wcB&pid=uid1024-22764968-99

But with fall finally here, I have been leaning more towards something fall-ish.. or autumn-e? So, I've been seeing these Wheat Wreaths, like this:
http://www.shopstyle.com/action/loadRetailerProductPage?id=458502634&pid=uid1024-22764968-99

Only issue is, this bad boy is almost $90! Whoa momma!

While on Pintrest the other day, I found this GREAT tutorial on how to easily make my own for over HALF the cost! You can find the simple directions here.
You use floral pins and a straw wreath form. The bunches of wheat are 5.98. I used 4 on a 14" wreath.

...and here's the finished product!
I can't quit going out and looking at it. It looks so good from the road on that dark door!

Happy first day of Fall! & Fall makeup finds.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year.." La la la.. It's a cool, crisp first day of fall and I couldn't be in better spirits! I went out and bought my first round of mums this weekend and I'm about to dig out my ceramic pumpkins and dump pumpkin spice in everything I make. Whose up for a corn maze?!

I have to make a small rave about this powder I bought last week.
Elf high def powder
It is $6 and a miracle worker. It's light and blurs imperfections along with soaking up oil. It is colorless, so it works well over BB cream, tinted moisturizer or mineral powder foundation. For $6, you can't go wrong!

I also want to get my hands on this pallet!

I used to love the Black Honey lipstick, and I think these shadow colors make a nice neutral pallet for fall.

Have a Happy First Day of FALL!!

3 Things... Fall is in the air!

Fall is in the air today! It is 'brisk' out, leaves are falling and I'm on my second jug of apple cider - YUM. Here's 3 things I'm digging right now for fall:

1) Military style jackets

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1002596&vid=1&pid=648134012

I have this one from Old Navy. Good news, it's on SALE! They also have it in tan. I love rolling up the sleeves and wearing it will skinny jeans and tall boots. Women's Military Jacket, at Old Navy

2) Fall scents for the home

I love this candle! It is one of my very favorites and makes me want to build a fire in the fire place and whip up some hot cocoa! Spicy-Fallie-Appley-Goodness. Leaves, by Bath and Body Works

3) Oversized studs

I recently got these at a Stella and Dot party and I am in love. My little one leaves them alone (as opposed to dangle earrings...) and they dress up anything. They are certain to be my go to accessory this fall! Nancy Studs, by Stella and Dot

Happy Monday!

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone has a safe and spooky Halloween! We've got a forecast for rain down south. I'm glad my little pumpkin isn't old enough to know all the fun she would miss not getting to trick-or-treat!

I've waiting a long time to have a little one and get to make Halloween costumes! I made her a little ghostie this year!

I bought a plain white onesie and some black felt for the face. I cut it out freehand and stitched it on by hand, only took like a half hour. The tutu, on the other hand, took a little longer! I used this tutorial to make the tutu. I made a bow on the front of the tutu and a bow for her hair to match (it's sewn onto a lace headband I got from Pick Your Plum). Her tights are from a Mud Pie outfit, but any tights or leggings would work!

Baby's first Pumpkin Patch Outing!

This past weekend I took my little bug to the pumpkin patch on a little play date. The weather was brisk which is just the way we like it! Who doesn't love fall? Especially after a hot southern summer, I welcome cold nights and colder mornings!

She's obsessed with pumpkins (like her momma) and loved touching the hay (which made it way into and all around our house).

We went on a hay ride before we left on which she promptly passed out! I guess you can kind of see it in her eyes in the before shot...

Hope everyone is crossing off their fall bucket lists, too!

Pirate's life for me

Back to reality this week after fun in the sun last week at the beach. Let me tell you how fun it is to get a little one back on any resemblance of a schedule after being on vacation. It's Friday and she is JUST NOW going down for a morning nap without doing an alligator death roll fight with me :)

The upside of coming back is that it is officially, officially fall. Like, no one will judge you for putting out pumpkins and mums fall. Fall is my FAVORITE time of year. I love decorating and burning autumn scented candles. I love making chili and soups and roasted squash. Or my easy and delicious Crock Pot Beef Stew!

I'm going to ignore the fact that it is going to be 88 degrees tomorrow still (ugh). Bring on the cold front!

Maternity Fall Fashion

Needless to say when you are expecting, fashion can be quite the challenge. Along with trying to save money to purchase nursery furniture and baby gear essentials, the old clothes budget isn't what it used to be. I've been trying to stick to basics that can be worn again and again in different ways to stretch my fashion dollar. Here's some fall favorites of mine right now that can get you over the 'bump'!

1: Ribbed cowlneck tunic sweater in silver fox grey, GAP
2: Maternity Demi Panel Skinny Jeans Dark Wash, Old Navy
3: Women's Merona® Kasia Leather Riding Boot, Tan, Target
4: Legacy Leather Swingpack in Cognac, COACH
5: Worn Gold Cutout Heart Drop Earrings, Target
